Karina believes that anyone at any age can learn to dance. After building a long and successful ballroom dance career, Karina currently teaches many students ranging from beginners to high level competition couples. She prides herself on her ability to tailor each class specific to the students level of technique whilst being creative, designing choreography with a fun approach.

Latin Dances

Latin American dance is hot and sensual. Latin dancers are meant to been seen and dreamt of! As a beginner, it’s easy to learn the basics, but as you get more advanced Latin dance requires (and creates) a lot of flexibility, physical fitness and awareness of your body.

Cha Cha

Of Cuban origin, the cha-cha is danced to upbeat syncopations matched with the Latin hip movement. It is often described as cheeky, playful and fun.

Paso Doble

Based on French and Spanish influences, the Paso Doble represents the dramatic movement of a bullfight, which involves sharp and quick movements to build suspense.

Samba

Known as the dance of celebration, Samba is derived from Afro-Brazilian origin. The Samba requires the unique movement of a bounce action.

Jive

Originated in the USA, the Jive is a form of Swing Dance and has variations of the Jitterbug and Lindy Hop. Keeping you on your toes, it is considered the lively and energetic dance of the 1930s and 40s.

Rumba

The Rumba is the “slow dance” of the Latin category. The Cuban motion is danced with control to create the fluidity for this sensual and romantic style of dance.

 

Ballroom Dances

A highly individualistic style, Ballroom allows each couple to dance their own steps, and develop a unique style. Ballroom dancers have fantastic posture. It’s not difficult to learn as a beginner, with a few lessons enough to be able to get up at a social dance and have fun.

Waltz

Considered one of the most romantic styles of ballroom, the Waltz is the easiest of the dances to learn. The floating movement glides across the ballroom, and is a favourite amongst wedding couples.

Viennese Waltz

Described as a romantic and timeless dance, the Viennese Waltz requires constant rotation, turns and switching places between partners to create the graceful movement seen in social dances

Tango

Originating from Buenos Aires, the Tango involves strength and control between two people to match the staccato beats of the music. The sharp movements creates a dramatic and passionate spectacle.

Quickstep

Developed in the 1920’s, the Quickstep is fun, fast and involves intricate footwork to appear light and energetic. Elegant like the Foxtrot, the runs and hops in the Quickstep will definitely keep you on your toes!

Slow Foxtrot

The Slow Foxtrot is normally danced to jazz tones, and involves a continuous gliding movement across the floor. It can be danced to different tempos and is considered a graceful dance style.

Cancellation Policy – Karina Schembri Dance
Thank you for choosing Karina Schembri Dance for your dance journey. To maintain the quality of our services and ensure smooth operations, we have implemented the following cancellation policy:
1.Cancellation Period: A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling of any private lessons, group classes, or events with Karina Schembri Dance.
2.Cancellation Procedure: Cancellations should be communicated directly to Karina Schembri Dance through our official communication channels, including phone or email.
3. Late Cancellations: Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled lesson, class, or event will be considered late cancellations.
4. **Late Cancellation Fees: Late cancellations may incur a fee. The amount of the fee will be determined based on the nature of the reservation and the impact on our scheduling.
5.Exceptions: In cases of emergency or exceptional circumstances, exceptions to the 24-hour cancellation policy may be considered at the discretion of Karina Schembri Dance.
6.No-Shows: If you fail to attend a scheduled lesson, class, or event without prior notice, it will be considered a no-show. No-shows may result in the full charge for the reserved service.
7. Refunds: Cancellation fees are non-refundable. In the case of prepaid services, a credit may be applied for future use at the discretion of Karina Schembri Dance.
8.Group Classes and Events: For group classes and events, a minimum number of participants may be required. Karina Schembri Dance reserves the right to cancel or reschedule an event if the minimum number is not met. Participants will be notified in advance.
9. Policy Acknowledgment: By engaging in our services, you acknowledge and agree to adhere to Karina Schembri Dance's cancellation policy.
